Morning Lemon Ritual

Give your body & digestive system a welcoming wake up call with a calming warm lemon water each morning. When you rise & shine, get into a beautiful habit of warm lemon, to wake the senses, sharpen the mind & get the body set up for success. 

There are so many benefits of Adding a slice of lemon & juice to your Morning water Ritual. 

To balance your pH levels in the body, Lemon is a rich source of ascorbic acid (Vit C) and protects your immune system. Lemons are also a wonderful rich source e of calcium, potassium, phosphorus & magnesium. Vit C is a great adrenal gland support & helps reduce the effects of stress. It is not the daily dose I’d recommend, but its one small step amongst a day that will all add up. Check out my berry smoothie for more punched vit c options. 

Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning starts the wonderful cascade of metabolic rate, allowing your body to keep a healthy weight & stabilise your sugar cravings. Yes, it has been scientifically proven to show that it does speed up your wonderful fat burning tool, metabolism.  

Since my last blog post on liver boosting lifestyle habits a few followers have asked about the lemon water. To dive deeper into explaining why., As your liver is stepping into phase 2 whilst your asleep its the time for restoring & balancing hormones & detoxifying your body. Lemon acts as a stimulant to assist in proper production of digestive enzymes, therefore regulating your bowel patterns effectively.  Rather than overloading your liver with stress, fatty foods and alcohol, having whole foods, gut calming foods & your morning ritual of lemon water can give your liver the boost it needs. And the beauty of it is, lemon water is so incredibly in expensive. We buy our organic lemons from the farmers markets & one bundle will last us the week. My 7year old son actually likes squeezing a lemon into his mouth & reacting with the sour war head face, too cute. 

Get your digestive enzymes pumping; Lemon water will assist in boosting digestion in your body. An extra little tip from me, if you can get used to enjoying the water temperature warm, this will be more beneficial. This gives your digestive system a welcoming wake up call & allows your body to rehydrate. Science and evidence has proven that drinking freezing cold water is not good for your immune system, that primarily functions out of your digestive system. 

For a happy liver and lymphatic system support, make a habit of drinking 1-2 glasses of lemon water before having your caffeine hit of coffee , I know I can hear you moan like I used to prior to developing a morning ritual. If its glowing skin that gets you intrigued then this is for you, lemon water flushes the body of toxins, aids digestion and therefore results in clearer skin. Vit C also is required for collagen production & cell renewal in the anti Ageing process. 

Adding lemon to your morning tea blends is also beautiful, other little things I love to add to my morning Lemon water are sometimes, ginger, freshly grown thyme & summer a little slice of cucumber. So refreshing.
